FAQs

What is the purpose of the Fourth Dimension Fellowship Conference (“FDF Conference”)?

The handful of gentlemen planning this conference believe that one of the biggest challenges facing gay men in recovery is the challenge of developing meaningful relationships and communication skills with other members of our community.  In an era of social media and dating apps on our phones, this challenge is made all the more difficult.  Accordingly, this conference is anchored by two goals; (1) developing meaningful connections with members of the sober gay community and (2) development of our working knowledge of the 12 Steps of Alcoholics and, particularly our ability to “practice these principles in all of our affairs,” including, the way we interact with each other.

I have heard that no phones can be used during the FDF Conference?

The success of the FDF Conference depends upon the embrace, by all of us, of the purpose and goals described in answer to the prior question.  We believe that our phones, while a powerful way to communicate and make our lives more efficient, also serve as a barrier to truly connect with our friends and fellows.  Accordingly, we will be asking participants to refrain from using their phones during FDF Conference events, including the banquet and workshops, and will be encouraging all of us to try to avoid using our phones while interacting with members of our fellowship.  Obviously, we will not be “policing” this request, nor would we ever impose a rule regarding phones.  That said, we request that all participants respect this request, out of respect for our fellow conference participants who wish to take full advantage of this experiment of developing community without the crutch of a screen!

How many conference participants can stay in one room?

Rooms can hold up to four guests. However, no one may stay in a room at the host hotel unless that person is registered as a conference participant.

Do any meals come with my hotel registration?

Yes.  Breakfast is included for guests staying at the hotel and registered at the conference.  Vouchers will be provided when you check in.  All conference participants not staying at the hotel are permitted to also eat at the restaurant at their own expense.

All registered conference participants receive dinner at the Saturday evening banquet.

May I transfer my hotel registration to another conference participant?

Unfortunately, no.  Hotel reservations cannot be transferred.  If you elect to cancel or transfer your registration to the conference, you must contact the hotel directly to cancel your reservation.  If you do not cancel your hotel registration after canceling or transferring your Conference registration, the hotel may charge you for the room.  By canceling your hotel reservation, you will free up a room for another member of the fellowship who has not yet been able to locate lodging.

Is there parking during the conference?

Yes. The hotel has plenty of parking available, whether you are staying at the hotel or not.

My partner is not in recovery. May he attend the conference?

This conference is designed for gay men in recovery from alcohol and drugs.  Accordingly, as with many “closed” 12-Step meetings, the FDF Conference is not able to accommodate those who are not in a program of 12-Step addiction recovery.  This allows us to maximize our exciting conference to as many members of the 12-Step community as possible.

How can I find a roommate?

The FDF Facebook page (a private page to protect anonymity) allows communication between members.  Feel free to post on the page regarding roommate requests or other FDF related business.  If you would like to join the Facebook page, please contact us and ask to join.

Will a schedule of events be made available prior to the Conference weekend?

Yes.  We will post the schedule on this website in advance of the conference!

How do I request a refund?

We at FDF understand that sometimes plans change, and our participants are not able to attend after registering. FDF honors all refund requests made before August 1, 2019. If you wish to have your registration refunded, please fill out the form on this page before August 1, 2019. Refunds are proceesed within 30 days from your request. Please note, the refund you receive will not include the 3.05% merchant fee we were required to pay upon your initial registration. Accordingly, your refund will be $193.90. Please also note, canceling your registration with us does not complete cancelation of your hotel room reservation, which must be done separately through the host hotel (or wherever else you may be staying).
